He is a senior criminal barrister and Mental Health Judge specialising in cases of serious fraud, drugs and money laundering as well as offences of violence involving the use of firearms.
His expertise in the field of mental health has also led to him conducting criminal cases involving complex defences based on mental capacity such as temporary insanity and non-insane automatism as well as exceptional duress in cases of autism.
As a Mental Health Judge, he has presided over test cases at HMP Broadmoor involving risk assessment, personality disorder and treatability. He has regularly lectured as part of the Law Society Lecture Series on mental health, human rights, risk assessment in violent offenders and criminal law.
